Crystal Palace assistant head of academy recruitment set for Manchester United switch

Manchester United are set to appoint Crystal Palace’s Jamahl Jarrett as a lead phase scout in the South of England.

The 32-year-old has been assistant head of academy recruitment with the Eagles for the last few years and is also the co-founder and director of football for Lambeth Tigers.

Jarrett and David Marriott reformed the club in 2010 and the South London club have developed and spotted more than 250 youngsters who have gone on to join the youth set-ups at the likes of Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, Fulham, Millwall and Leicester City.

Jarrett grew up around the tough Loughborough Estate and revealed in a 2015 interview that Lambeth Tigers were resurrected to help keep youngsters away from gangs and a life of crime.

He has been at Palace for the last 10 years, six of those in a full-time capacity.

A long-term leg injury forced Jarrett to set his sights on a coaching career in the game and he works with players at Lambeth Tigers from U7 to U15 level, including setting the coaching syllabus.
