Crystal Palace boss asked about performances of Lacroix and Sarr in Spurs win

Oliver Glasner says the performances of Maxence Lacroix and Ismaila Sarr in Crystal Palace’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur show why new signings should not be judged so quickly.

Senegalese international Sarr was making just his second start since signing from Marseille this summer.

The former Watford winger was a constant threat during his 67 minutes on the pitch as he played as one of the number 10s behind Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Lacroix was starting his sixth consecutive game since signing from Wolfsburg in the summer and made three clearances, two interceptions and three tackles.

Asked about the duo’s performance, Glaser said: “I mention it all the time. We had very late signings and no pre-season together.

“Ismaila wasn’t allowed to train with the team at Marseille.

“I don’t know when he played his last game with Senegal.

“Don’t judge them after three or four weeks.

“This was the third time the back three played together.

“We can all agree that it looks better and better from game to game – they understand each other.

“Trevoh Chalobah played really well. His defending was very good and he was very aggressive.

“He had no pre-season or team training. We always believed in our players and squad.”
