Crystal Palace boss asked about transfer plans after Cheick Doucoure’s injury

Oliver Glasner believes that Crystal Palace have enough cover in the central midfield positions despite Cheick Doucoure’s fresh injury concern.

The Austrian boss revealed in his pre-Brentford press conference that Doucoure, 25, picked up a knee injury ahead of Sunday’s clash against the Bees.

However, Glasner admitted the extent of Doucoure’s injury is still unclear.

When asked if the recent injury to the Mali international could force the Eagles into the transfer market, Glasner said: “Let’s see – it makes it a little tricky.

“Adam Wharton is coming closer to the team, but it will be necessary to train with the team, give him the full load, and get him some minutes to see how his body will react.

“Against West Ham, we were lighter on numbers in midfield because of a third game in a week, but Daichi Kamada did excellently there with Will Hughes.

“We feel confident. We know Justin Devenny can play in the middle – like he did at the end of the game against West Ham.

“It helps us having players who can play in different positions. We have Jefferson Lerma, Adam Wharton, Daichi, Justin, Hughes, and Chris Richards who can step in too.

“We have enough players for this position.”
