Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner asked about managing Daniel Munoz’s game time

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has no concerns about managing Daniel Munoz’s current workload but will give the Colombian international two days off after tomorrow’s Premier League clash at home to Manchester United.

The 28-year-old has started every outing so far under Glasner and also played 90 minutes in both games against Peru and Argentina for Colombia during the recent international break.

Munoz arrived back from the international break last Thursday and featured for 81 minutes in the 2-2 Premier League draw with Leicester on Saturday.

He also played the started and completed the full game in the 2-1 EFL Cup win over QPR on Tuesday night.

“We’re thinking and talking about it,” said Glasner

“I talk to him to see how he feels. He always wants to play and he’s in great shape.

“We think about giving him a break, but he says: “Gaffer, I’m fit. I can play – I want to play.’

“Every international player will get two days off after the Man United game to recover physically and mentally.

“We will train on Sunday, but they will have time off.

“We have two games in the next two weeks, so we don’t have to manage minutes if someone is fit.

“It should be possible for any professional football player to play three games in one week.

“Maybe not over half a year, but, unfortunately, we’re not in this situation because we don’t play European football.

“Now we have two weeks [until the next international break], and he will get his time off.

“I’m not concerned at the moment.”

Munoz arrived from Genk last January and has become a key player at Selhurst Park.

He has four assists to his name but is yet to register his first goal.

Glasner added: “We knew one of Daniel’s strengths was being very offensive. He had the assist at Brentford and he had a good chance at QPR at the back post.

“We need a great physicality and mentality – both players have this.

“If he needs a break, we have Clyney and Wardy, who can play this role a little more defensively.

“With Ismaila [Sarr], we have a player who is very attack-minded in this position.”
