Crystal Palace boss takes responsibility for Eddie Nketiah’s hamstring injury
Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Eddie Nketiah has suffered a hamstring injury and will miss tomorrow’s Premier League clash against Fulham.
Our paper revealed that the 25-year-old had picked up the hamstring problem.
South Londoner Nketiah– signed from Arsenal in a deal worth up to £30million this summer – has featured nine times this season and scored his first goal in the EFL Cup win over QPR earlier in the season.
Eberechi Eze, Jefferson Lerma, Chadi Riad, Adam Wharton, Franco Umeh and Matheus Franca are all unavailable for Saturday’s Premier League outing at Selhurst Park.
“Eddie played the last two games,” said Glasner.
“It’s my mistake and fault for not subbing him earlier in the Wolves game – he was sprinting again.
“In the Wolves and Tottenham game, we were the number one team in the Premier League for high-intensity runs – I should have subbed him earlier.
“He felt something in his hamstring during the game, but he was fighting for the team until almost the end of the game – now he has problems with his hamstring.
“Let’s see how long it will take.”
Palace feared that Nketiah picked up the injury doing extra work away from the training ground.
“I heard about it and talked to him,” said Glasner.
“He mentioned after the game that he felt his hamstring.
“He had a scan, and it was a bit more serious than expected. I always trust my players. I spoke to Eddie.
”Everything is fine.”
