Crystal Palace confirm defender deal

Crystal Palace have announced that Joel Ward has signed a contract extension.

The 33-year-old right-back will stay with the SE25 club until the summer of 2024.

Ward had been due to be a free agent this summer.

He joined the Eagles from Portsmouth in 2012 and has made 335 appearances in all competitions.

“I’m delighted to extend my contract,” Ward told the club’s official website. “I’m looking forward to next season, and building on how we’ve finished during the last eight weeks.”

Palace chairman Steve Parish added: “Joel is a senior leadership figure at the club given his extraordinary length of service and continued high levels of performance over more than a decade with the club.

“As an important and ever-reliable squad member, we are delighted that Joel will be with us for another season.”
