Crystal Palace confirm knee operation for Christian Benteke

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Crystal Palace have confirmed that Christian Benteke has undergone knee surgery – but have not given a timescale for the Belgian international to return.

The Eagles posted a statement on their website today. It said: “The club can confirm that Christian Benteke has undergone minor arthroscopic explorative surgery and washout of his knee, as it had not been settling with conservative management.

“The surgeon was happy with the outcome and we expect Christian to return to training very soon. A further update will be given in a few weeks’ time.”

Benteke has been out since September 1. He has scored just twice this year.
