Crystal Palace considering experienced coaches to assist Paddy McCarthy
Crystal Palace are considering bringing in experienced coaches to assist Paddy McCarthy should he land the job permanently – with Ray Lewington one of the names under consideration.
The South London Press understands that the Palace board are looking at experienced Premier League coaches to come in for the rest of the season.
Shaun Derry – who was sacked by Patrick Vieira – is also being considered for a return to the first-team coaching staff.
U21 manager McCarthy will take charge of the first team for Sunday’s Premier League clash away to Arsenal.
Lewington, who was assistant manager to Roy Hodgson during his time as Palace boss, is well respected by the club’s hierarchy and players.
The 66-year-old has also had coaching spells at England, Fulham, Watford and Brentford during his career.
Our paper also understands that Roy Hodgson is a serious option to replace Vieira at Selhurst Park for the rest of the season.
Vieira, 46, was sacked on Friday morning, with Palace the only Premier League side without a win in 2023.
