Crystal Palace keeper ruled out
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is set to be sidelined until the end of March with a calf injury.
The 29-year-old joined the Eagles in the summer on a free transfer after leaving West Brom at the end of last season.
Vicente Guaita, 36, has been the first choice in the Premier League this season under Patrick Vieira, with Johnstone yet to make an appearance in the top flight for the South Londoners.
Former Aston Villa stopper Johnstone, who has picked up three England caps during his career, made his debut for the Eagles in the 2-0 EFL Cup second-round win at Oxford United.
The Eagles have two goalkeepers out on loan, with Remi Matthews on a season-long stint at St Johnstone and Jack Butland joining Manchester United on a six-month deal in January, but neither player can be recalled.
Joe Whitworth was the only goalkeeper named on the bench for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Brentford.
The 18-year-old has been Palace’s third-choice goalkeeper this season and signed a new long-term contract with the club earlier in the season.
Fellow academy keeper Owen Goodman has also been named on the bench this season in the league.
