Crystal Palace receive injury news boost ahead of Liverpool clash

Crystal Palace have received an injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash at home to Liverpool this weekend.

The Athletic is reporting that Tyrick Mitchell looks set to be available for selection after coming off against Brentford last weekend with an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old was replaced in the 82nd minute at the Gtech Community Stadium by Chris Richards.

Palace do not have natural cover at left-back, with Richards a more natural centre-back and Jeffrey Schlupp and Jairo Riedewald being seen as midfield options in Patrick Vieira’s side.

Fellow academy graduate defender Tayo Adaramola has been playing with Paddy McCarthy’s U21 side since his loan with Coventry was cancelled at the start of the season.

Joel Ward, who has also played as a left-back under the French World Cup winner, was due to return to training from a calf injury this week.

Vieira also explained before the Brentford game that Wilfried Zaha is still a “couple of weeks” away from returning from injury.

England international Mitchell has made 88 appearances for the Eagles in all competitions.
