Crystal Palace set to win loan race for Chelsea midfielder

Crystal Palace look set to make Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher their latest summer addition.

The England U21 international is ready to join the Eagles on a season-long loan deal.

Leeds United were also keen on landing Gallagher but the all-action midfielder – who has previously had temporary spells with Charlton Athletic, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion – is believed to have settled on a spell in SE25.

Gallagher had been on Palace’s loan shortlist at the start of last season but they instead opted to take Michy Batshuayi from the Blues.

Gallagher ended up at the Baggies and made 30 Premier League appearances. He scored for them in their 5-1 thrashing at the hands of the Eagles in December.

Gallagher joined Chelsea at the age of eight. He is contracted to them until the summer of 2025.

Palace splashed £15million to land Lyon centre-back Joachim Andersen, 25, earlier this week.
