Crystal Palace star Sorloth: There was nothing wrong with my goal at Stamford Bridge

Alexander Sorloth was left frustrated after being harshly denied his first Crystal Palace goal in their 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.
The Norway international powerfully struck home just after the hour mark but referee Anthony Taylor instead gave a free-kick in favour of the Blues for an alleged foul by Jairo Riedewald on Gary Cahill. Sorloth also struck the post in the opening minutes of the second half. His wait for a first goal for the club has now lasted four games.
He said: “I am frustrated, especially with the disallowed goal. It was at a free-kick, if you see the situation clearly again, it was [Gary] Cahill who jumps towards Jairo who takes his foot away so that should have been a goal – of course that is frustrating.
Sorloth felt that had his goal stood, it would have changed the complexion of the match because “it was earlier in the game” than when Patrick van Aanholt eventually netted Palace’s consolation with a minute of normal time remaining.
The January signing added: ”We could have kept attacking [had the goal counted] and you never know, maybe we could have scored again to make it 2-2.
“The referee has a bad angle, so maybe it is difficult for him [to see the incident properly]. If you see it from the right angle you will see it is not a free-kick. It was a good goal, unfortunately it was not allowed.”
