Crystal Palace suffer setback in chase for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that Crystal Palace transfer target Eddie Nketiah will not be leaving the north London club in the January transfer window.
Lewisham-born Nketiah has scored five goals in 41 appearances for the Gunners since breaking on to the first-team scene in 2017.
The Eagles are looking to bolster their frontline and were keen on signing the England U21 international.
But Arteta has ruled out a move for the 22-year-old. He said: “The situation is that Eddie is our player, he’s under contract so he is going to stay here with us.”
Nketiah has six months left on his deal. Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly opened talks with Nketiah to try and secure him on a pre-contract agreement.
According to Football Insider, Palace have been beaten to the signing of Borja Mayoral.
The publication is reporting that Getafe are set to win the race for the Real Madrid loanee, with his heart set on a move back to Spain.
