Crystal Palace suffer seventh straight Premier League defeat as Wolves cruise

Goals by Daniel Podence and Jonny Otto for Wolverhampton Wanderers extended Crystal Palace’s losing run to seven games.
Following a cagey start, the Eagles had the first proper chance of the game when Wilfried Zaha played in Jeffrey Schlupp, but the Ghanaian dragged his effort wide.
Podence acrobatically volleyed over after good work by Adama Traore to beat Tyrick Mitchell and cross.
But the Portuguese was soon on target to open the scoring. Andros Townsend sloppily lost the ball in Palace’s defensive third and Joao Moutinho played an excellent pass through to Matt Doherty. The full-back flicked the ball across goal for Podence to nod in.
Palace struggled to find a way back into the game in the second period. Traore went close but fired straight at Vicente Guaita from a tight angle having advanced beyond the Eagles’ back four.
And the Spaniard was key as Wolves eventually netted their third. The winger beat Mitchell and squared for Raul Jimenez, and the Mexican passed to Otto, who took a touch before finding the corner.
Zaha twice struck efforts at Rui Patricio, but that was as much as the Eagles offered in response to either goal.
