Crystal Palace winger forced off through injury on international duty

Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise was forced off through injury for France’s U21 side last night as they picked up a 1-0 win over Norway.

The 21-year-old bagged his first goal for his country in the 57th minute – scoring the only goal of the game – when he swept Amine Adli’s cross beyond Kristoffer Klaesson.

Olise was then forced off in the 65th minute when he collected a pass inside the penalty area and went down after a coming together with Norway stopper Klaesson, who got the ball.

The former Reading creative spark was forced to come off for Lyon forward Bradley Barcola.

U21 France boss Sylvain Ripoll said: “It’s an injury to the hamstring in his left thigh. It’s a tough blow. It’s a problem for the rest of the competition because we can’t replace him. We’ll find out in the coming hours how long he will be out for.”

Olise was been voted as the Players’ Player of the Season by his Crystal Palace team-mates.

He became the first-ever Palace player last season to record double digits for assists in an individual Premier League campaign.
