Crystal Palace Women put on free coaches for schoolchildren to attend London City Lionesses match
Crystal Palace Women will be transporting hundreds of local schoolchildren to Sunday’s match at London City Lionesses.
The Eagles have been awarded an FA grant to help fund its various initiatives to grow their audience.
Interest in the women’s game has grown off the back of the recent World Cup.
The club have partnered with Palace for Life Foundation to book six coaches to collect and return children from schools within the local community.
There will be various other activities at the match, including Kayla the Eagle flying across the pitch and photo opportunities with fans, half-time challenges and face painting and other matchday entertainment.
Palace are printing 1,000 special edition autograph books detailing key info about each player. These will be distributed to match attendees and at community events throughout the season.
Crystal Palace FC are also running a CPFC Women’s takeover across club channels later this week to promote the crunch match.
General manager Paula Johnson said: “We’re just over 12 months into our time as a Women’s Championship club now and it has been so exciting to see the strides Crystal Palace and the wider women’s game have made.
“Our players have experienced some of the biggest crowds of their careers in the last 18 months and we want to keep building on that throughout this season.
“We’ve been keen to reach out to schoolchildren in the local community for some time and we’re thrilled that with Palace for Life and the FA we’ve been able to do so. One thing is for sure – it will be a noisy game this Sunday!”
Advance tickets for the match are £2.50 for Crystal Palace season ticket holders and members or £5 for non-members and are available at https://tickets.cpfc.co.uk/
Tickets are available at the gate for £7.
