Crystal Palace wrap up busy summer of transfer activity with £15m deal for Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard
Crystal Palace have concluded their summer transfer business with the £15million signing of Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.
The 23-year-old striker is Patrick Vieira’s seventh signing of the summer window.
Edouard, who has signed a four-year contract, won three Scottish Premiership titles during his time north of the border along with twice winning both the Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup.
Edouard initially joined Celtic on loan from PSG before a permanent switch in 2018. He has scored 86 goals in 179 appearances for the Glasgow club. He had two goals in four Scottish Premiership matches this season, as well as an assist on the opening day.
Edouard told Palace TV: “I’m very happy to be here. I can’t [wait to] start to train with the team and to play for this club. Scoring goals in the Premier League may be the biggest challenge in my career. But I’m confident in myself and my team-mates to be successful.”
Eagles chairman Steve Parish added: “Odsonne is a player of proven quality. He was a player in high demand and I’m delighted he chose to join Crystal Palace as another fantastic addition to our squad.”
Parish added on Instagram: “The last of some great additions this summer. Thanks to everyone involved @cpfc for their hard work. Short break then looking forward to seeing them all in action #cpfc #epl.”
Patrick now has “the horses” for his style of play. Let’s see what he can do with them. I wish him well. Actually, there is a definite buzz of excitement in the air.
