Crystal Palace youngster set to be named in matchday squad for Man United EFL Cup clash

Ademola Ola-Adebomi is set to be included in Roy Hodgson’s senior matchday squad for the first time this evening as Crystal Palace take on Manchester United in third round of the EFL Cup.

The 20-year-old forward reached double figures – 11 in total – for the Eagles’ U21 side in all competitions last season.

He has been stepping up to train with Hodgson’s first team throughout the start of the season.

The 6ft 4ich striker, who recently bagged a brace for Darren Powell’s U21 side in their 6-2 Premier League cup win over Middlesbrough, scored 19 goals for Palace’s U18 side during the 2021/22 campaign and signed his first professional contract with the club in April 2022.

Ola-Adebomi has been with the Eagles since he was eight and was a part of the U15 squad that won the national Super Floodlit Cup for the first time in the club’s history.

He was also included in Patrick Vieira’s first team for the pre-season tour of Singapore and Australia at the start of the 2022-23 campaign, playing 25 minutes in a friendly against Manchester United. He was named on the bench for the games against Liverpool and Leeds United.

The Eagles will be without Naouirou Ahamada, Odsonne Edouard, James Tomkins, Michael Olise, Matheus Franca and Jefferson Lerma for tonight’s trip to Old Trafford.
