Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson not set to rip apart team selection despite shipping 10 goals in just two matches

BY SAM SMITH

Roy Hodgson has said that he will not be making wholesale changes to his Crystal Palace side for tomorrow’s game against Leicester City – despite the Eagles shipping 10 goals in their last two matches.

The South Londoners were beaten 7-0 by Liverpool last weekend and yesterday conceded a further three without reply against Aston Villa, who played a large chunk of the contest down to 10 men after Tyrone Mings’ dismissal.

But Hodgson has warned against expecting a completely different starting 11, even though he expects some players on the fringes of the squad to be asking to play.

“There will not be a lot of changes,” the Palace boss said. “There aren’t really teams who have got two first elevens that they can play.

“Luckily enough, we do have some players who can knock on my door and say: ‘What about me? When will I get a chance?’. That’s a good thing, of course, but to [the question of] wholesale changes: no. A lot of the players who played today are going to have to go again.”
