Dan Azeez-Joshua Buatsi light-heavyweight clash at Greenwich’s 02 Arena is OFF

Dan Azeez says he is “devastated” that a back injury has forced the postponement of his light-heavyweight world title eliminator against Joshua Buatsi.

The unbeaten South Londoners were due to meet at Greenwich’s 02 Arena on Saturday night.

But promoter BOXXER issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that the event would no longer be going ahead after Lewisham’s Azeez suffered an injury in his final training session.

“I’m devastated for this to happen on fight week,” Lewisham’s Azeez posted on social media. “I’ve never had to withdraw from a fight in my career before.

“I want to apologise to all the fans, especially those travelling to the fight.

“I am also extremely sorry to my opponent Joshua Buatsi, to my promoter and to everyone involved who has worked so hard on this date.

“I hope this fight can be rescheduled as soon as possible.”
