Dillian Whyte: Anthony Joshua fight at Wembley for April is dead

Dillian Whyte has confirmed that any hopes of him facing Anthony Joshua at Wembley on April 13 are over.

The Brixton heavyweight was in negotiations over a second clash with Joshua, who holds multiple versions of the world titles.

But Whyte has confirmed at Matchroom’s show at The 02 tonight that the pair will not be getting in on in the next few months.

He said: “The Joshua fight is dead.”

Whyte went on to say that he is set to box instead at Greenwich’s 02 in April.

His preferred opponent is Californian Dominic Breazeale. The American was halted in seven rounds by Joshua – his sole reverse – but has since racked up three victories.

Breazeale is highly-ranked by a number of the major governing bodies.

Whyte also name-dropped two other potential fighters who could be in the mix for his next outing – Luis Ortiz and Alexander Povetkin.

Joshua now looks likely to fight in the States in June against Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller.
