Dillian Whyte set to attend press conference tomorrow – going face to face with Tyson Fury ahead of Wembley showdown

Dillian Whyte is set to attend tomorrow’s main event press conference – one of the final chances to hype up Saturday’s big fight at Wembley Stadium against Tyson Fury.

Queensberry Promotions, whose joint purse bid with Top Rank earned them the right to stage the showdown, stages a public workout at Boxpark Wembley today.

But only Fury was put through his paces in the ring by his trainer Sugar Hill Steward.

Whyte flew into Luton by private jet today.

Tomorrow’s press conference is only open to the media and will be shown live on BT Sport 1 and Queensberry’s YouTube channel from 2.30pm.

Queensberry chief Frank Warren told BT Sport that he is confident Whyte will show up at the event. It will be the first time the Brixton heavyweight has faced off against WBC world champion Fury since the bout was announced.

“Tyson has been very good – he’s done all that has been asked of him,” said Warren. “You can’t keep having a press conference with one person. That’s been the problem.

“Thankfully we have resolved some stuff now with Dillian. I’m a bit disappointed he isn’t here today but, anyway, he’ll be there tomorrow. He has done a great interview with BT [Sport]. That’s good for him, because the people who bought tickets and paid for the pay-per-view, they want to know who he is and hear about his journey.

“It’s a bit frustrating it has taken so long for him to do something. He’s doing quite a few things on social media, so hopefully tomorrow when the two of them come together we’re going to see some more fireworks.

“The public have bought into this fight and Tyson’s homecoming. It will be a great fight. You see from the interview you guys did with Dillian that he is in tip-top condition. You’ve only got to look at Tyson, who says himself that he is in the best condition physically and mentally – look at the great performances he has had in his last three world title fights; if he’s in better form now then you’re going to see something extra special on the night.”

Fury has previously stated he will retire after this weekend’s bout despite potentially lucrative match-ups still being on the horizon.

Once again he reiterated his plans to hang up his gloves.

“It’s epic, it doesn’t get any bigger than this – 94,000 in my home country and at the national stadium,” said Fury. “This is the pinnacle of boxing.

“We’re ready for action and to put on a good show. It’s the final chapter of my career going down at Wembley Stadium.

“I’ve seen plenty of boxers before [at the face to face] and I’ve seen loads of Dillian Whyte before. We’ll see what tomorrow will bring. I’m sure he’s got stuff he wants to say and I’ve always got a bit to say, as we all know. At this stage it doesn’t really matter what Dillian Whyte says or I say. It’s going to be a fight anyway.

“We’ve both trained hard and we’re both in good spirits.”
