Erith motorcycle racer Casey O’Gorman had a race meeting he’d rather forget as he suffered two DNF’s at the final round of the FIM JuniorGP World Championship in Estoril last week.

The 17 year old placed his 250cc Team Estrella Galicia 0,0 Honda at the head of the third row in seventh for the start of the first of two 16 lap races at the Portuguese track.

Ten laps down, whilst firmly in the front group, brake failure caused the youngster to collide with another rider ending his race spectating from the sides.

O’Gorman’s luck fared no better in race two after getting caught in a battle dropped him off the leading pack, he fought back to the front group only to get tagged by another rider to be sent crashing out yet again.

O’Gorman took to his social media page to say, “Really not the way I wanted to finish 2024.”

“In the first race when fighting in the front group, I had a brake failure in turn 13 causing me to run into the back of another rider who I apologised to after the race but there was nothing I could’ve done.

“In the second race, after early battling, we lost touch with the front group but I never gave up and slowly chipped away at the gap. When I arrived to the front group another rider touched my rear tyre causing me to get high sided off.

“Thank you to @teamestrellagalicia00 for all their work this year, we’ve had ups and downs but no matter what, they have believed in me.

“Now it’s time to rest a little and start preparation for next year.”

O’Gorman ended his first year in the championship in eleventh place on 76 points, 81 behind new champion Alvaro Carpe.
