‘Disappointing’ – Millwall boss Gary Rowett reacts to Ryan Leonard injury news
Ryan Leonard is set to be missing until the end of the month with the groin injury which forced him off in Millwall’s 0-0 draw against Luton Town on Saturday.
The experienced midfielder missed today’s 1-0 defeat to Hull City.
And George Honeyman is also at least a slight doubt for Saturday’s home game against Preston North End after being replaced at the interval with a hamstring niggle.
“Lenny is probably going to be around three weeks,” said Lions boss Gary Rowett. “Disappointing, but it could have been a lot worse. At this stage of the season it means three weeks might as well be three months in some respects because of the situation.
“Cressy (Charlie Cresswell), we don’t know yet if he will need an operation but whether he does or not it will be a pretty similar timescale – probably another four to five weeks. Again probably not going to play a massive part of the season. I’m not a medical expert but that’s roughly where we are.
“George Honeyman just felt his hamstring early on in the game. He wanted to carry on in the second half but we felt it wasn’t worth the risk. Hopefully it is not too serious.”
