Dons boss explains January signing’s matchday absence in Salford win

Johnnie Jackson says it was a tactical decision to leave Osman Foyo out of the matchday squad for AFC Wimbledon’s win over Salford on Saturday.

Foyo joined the South Londoners from Ipswich in the January window on a permanent transfer.

The 20-year-old was named on the bench in the goalless draw with Accrington and then made his debut in a late cameo during the 3-0 win over Crewe on Tuesday.

He was dropped from the matchday squad in favour of the returning Josh Kelly.

“Josh was ill during the week, so Osman got his opportunity,” said Jackson.

“But Kells was back and available. It’s difficult – I don’t want to leave anyone out.

“I wish I could name nine or 10 subs so they all feel a part of it.

“Kells was in the team a few games ago. Osman will get other chances.

“We just put Kells back in today.”
