Dons boss on future of Brighton loanee – and whether he has money to spend in January transfer window

Glyn Hodges is hopeful that Ryan Longman will see out the campaign at AFC Wimbledon – despite claims the Brighton attacker is attracting fresh interest.

The Premier League club have the option of ending his loan with the South Londoners when the transfer window opens tomorrow.

Dons manager Hodges said: “They are pleased with the amount of minutes he is getting. If you didn’t give a player minutes and don’t give him that platform to play then you end up having a few problems.

“Brighton are pleased, we are pleased and I think Ryan has been pleased. I don’t expect him to be called back. But all loan players have got that clause in January.

“I remember a couple of years ago that Ben Purrington was recalled by Rotherham and went out to Charlton instead.”

Hodges is not expecting many incomings to his squad.

“There are one or two players we’re looking into now but we have done well to get the budget we did,” he said. “That is credit to the fans who bought non-refundable season tickets and debentures.

“We haven’t got that much to play with but I’m happy with the squad we have got.”
