Dons braced for January transfer window bids for Ayoub Assal

AFC Wimbledon are braced for interest in Ayoub Assal in the January transfer window.

It would take a significant bid for the Dons to consider allowing the former England U20 trainee to depart Plough Lane.

Wimbledon broke their club-record transfer sale in the summer when Jack Rudoni was sold to Championship side Huddersfield Town in a deal potentially worth around £800,000.

Assal, who also qualifies to play for Morroco, has scored 10 goals and recorded five assists in his first 31 appearances this season under Johnnie Jackson.

The 20-year-old made his first-team league debut under head coach Mark Robinson in March 2021 and has made 97 appearances in all competitions for the Dons.

Assal, right, still has 18 months left to go on the three-year deal he signed in May 2021.
