Dons end their exile with draw at historic rivals Milton Keynes

Two early goals meant AFC Wimbledon drew 1-1 with bitter rivals MK Dons in their final League One game before the return to their spiritual home, Plough Lane, on Tuesday.

Glyn Hodges’ side extended their unbeaten league run to three games – their best run in almost three years – and climbed to 11th in the table.

The Dons took a 10th-minute lead as a long ball beat the home defence to send frontman Joe Pigott through and he rounded goalkeeper Connal Trueman to prod home.

Russell Martin’s side were only behind for three minutes as former Premier League striker with Stoke and Birmingham Cameron Jerome got to the byline and cut back to Scott Fraser who found the net from inside the box.

Pigott nearly headed the Dons back into the lead when he met Shane McLoughlin’s cross with a powerful nod, before Steve Seddon saw his effort denied by Dons keeper Andy Fisher as both sides had to settle for sharing the points.
