Dons eye move for ex-Charlton goalkeeper

AFC Wimbledon are stepping up their interest in signing former Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Lewis Ward, the South London Press understands.

The 27-year-old is a free agent after leaving The Valley at the end of last season.

Ward has plenty of experience to his name and has had spells at Sutton United, Swindon, Exeter and Forest Green during his carrer.

The former Aldershot stopper has 63 League Two outings to his name, keeping 15 clean sheets in the fourth tier.

Wimbledon are in the market for two goalkeepers this summer after number one from last season Alex Bass returned to Sunderland following the end of his loan spell.

Bass has since been sold to League Two rivals Notts County.

Nik Tzanev, who has joined Northampton, was also released at the end of last season.

Our paper understands that Wimbledon have agreed a deal in principle with Crystal Palace to sign Owen Goodman on loan for next season.
