‘Door firmly open’ – Millwall boss discusses Hull City loanee Ryan Longman

Millwall head coach Neil Harris says there remains a connection with Ryan Longman after the Hull City winger’s loan stay in SE16 last season.

The Lions boss stated after the finish to the Championship campaign that the former Brighton attacker, whose versatility means he can be utilised in a number of different positions, had made it “very clear” that he wanted to stay with the South Londoners.

Longman signed for Hull in January 2022 and his contract runs until next summer.

The Tigers sacked Liam Rosenior in May and replaced him with former Hamburg boss Tim Walter.

“Longy was brilliant for me,” Harris told the South London Press. “He showed some excellent attributes to be a really, really positive attacking influence as a Millwall winger.

“I really enjoyed working with him. He’s a brilliant character. He is a player we have stayed in touch with and the door was firmly open for Longy to certainly work with me and the football club in the future.

“Sometimes in football, things can change quickly. Hull have changed their manager not long after the season finished and players then might be in plans or might be out of plans.

“There’s certainly been a continued relationship between Ryan and myself regarding what the future years might hold.”
