Double injury blow! More Charlton injury setbacks as duo to miss Walsall game

Charlton’s injury woes have deepened ahead of tonight’s League One trip to Walsall – with Ben Reeves and Anfernee Dijksteel both ruled out with hamstring injuries.

The Addicks, who can move back into the play-off places with a win, will also be without striker Lyle Taylor (stomach). 

Left-back Toby Stevenson, who scored a hat-trick on his senior debut in the EFL Trophy thrashing of Stevenage, trained with the first team on Sunday.

Lewis Page (groin) is out until around Christmas time.

Charlton boss Lee Bowyer said: “We have two of our three full-backs out now.

“I might have to change the formation. Either that or play Naby [Sarr] at left-back – and their right winger is a decent player. I’m going to have to walk through it today.

“Because Ben and Anfernee are ruled out of the game they won’t go for a scan until Tuesday. We can let it settle down otherwise you don’t always get an accurate measurement.

“We don’t think Anfernee’s is as bad but he is obviously out Tuesday and Sunday.”

Taylor played through the pain of a muscle injury to last 62 minutes in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Doncaster.

“I said to the physio on Friday: ‘Just give him to me Saturday and then give him a rest’,” explained Bowyer. “I knew he wouldn’t have lasted the full game but I needed him for that ball for Karlan’s goal.

“Lyle is a very good player. He stepped up and put his body on the line. It shows you what good lads they are.”
