‘Down to business’ – Charlton set to begin shaping squad plans once League One campaign ends at Ipswich Town
Johnnie Jackson says that Charlton Athletic’s summer squad building will start in earnest next week, once their League One season has concluded at Ipswich Town.
The Addicks have a number of players who are out of contract this summer.
Charlton have options to trigger 12-month extensions on Ryan Inniss and Jake Forster-Caskey. Ben Purrington, Conor Washington, Jason Pearce and Adam Matthews are all out of contract.
We confirmed last week that Chris Gunter, Ben Watson and Pape Souare would not be staying.
Jackson told the South London Press: “One game to go and we just want to finish it off well and then all attention next week turns to what we’re going do moving forward, ie the ones who are out of contract – if they are leaving or if we’re offering stuff.
“And it is about the lads we want to bring in as well. Let’s get the last game out of the way, we are all concentrated on that. Next week it will be down to business and start getting things moving.”
