Dulwich Hamlet boss targets three signings – with duo heading out of Champion Hill exit door
Dulwich boss Gavin Rose was looking to make three signings as our paper went to press – one of those to replace outgoing left-back Nathan Mavila
The 23-year-old has landed a move to Canadian Premier League outfit Cavalry FC.
Hamlet have released Cheick Toure. Rose explained: “He was a 12th man [fans-funded] signing but in recent weeks Cheick hasn’t featured as much as he would like, or we would like.
“We have got young players like Jay Rich Baghuelou from our academy who we want to develop. They need to have a path through.
“We are speaking to two clubs about getting a left-back [to replace Mavila]. And we are possibly going to add another two players to the squad for this Saturday.”
Baghuelou has been on trial at Reading and Brentford this season.
“We decided a couple of weeks ago just to embed him in our squad,” said Rose. “If it is the right time and the right opportunity, then he can have a look at it.
“It can be quite unsettling at 18 or 19, going in and out of clubs and you are not really getting anything decisive – either positive or negative. He’s been asked to keep coming so they can rule the rule over him a bit more.
“He is learning all the time here. A lot of our boys are ex professionals. He is still in the progressive stage, even with us. So it is not a problem, him staying here.”
Dulwich are at National South leaders Torquay tomorrow – and will travel down today. Hamlet played at Plainmoor earlier this season, as Truro groundshare with the Gulls.
“We travelled on the day and were 2-0 down early on,” said Rose. “That was a lesson learned – that length of trip made us lethargic.
“We want to give ourselves our best chance – that’s not saying it will be positive.
“We’re starting to show a lot more grit and resilience. I feel quite confident we’ve got a team now who will give their best.”
