Dulwich Hamlet concede five goals in heavy National League South defeat

Dulwich Hamlet’s National League South survival prospects took a hit as they lost 5-1 at Chelmsford City on Monday night.

The South London club are 18th in the table – four points clear of the bottom four – but have played at least two matches more than the sides occupying the drop spots.

George Porter’s 88th-minute goal was only a consolation for Hamlet, who appointed Hakan Hayrettin as manager at the end of last week.

Hayrettin kicked off with a 1-0 victory over St Albans on Saturday.

Ben Brookes put Chelmsford ahead in the 43rd minute before a damaging second-half period in which Dulwich conceded three times in 14 minutes – Callum Jones, Michael Folivi and ex-Millwall midfielder Liam Trotter on target – killed off the contest.

Tyreke Johnson netted City’s fifth goal in the 80th minute.

Dulwich are at home to fourth-placed Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday.
