Dulwich Runners: Mace secures ninth spot at London Cross Country Championships
Elkie Mace finished ninth at the London Cross Country Championships on Saturday in a time of 23:14.
Anna Thomas showed great strength on the hilly course to finish 82nd and then Christina Dimitrov (87th) edged out Becca Schulleri by a second (88th) in a thrilling sprint finish.
Dulwich finished 10th out of the 27 clubs, a big improvement from 18th spot in 2017.
Ola Balme (97th), Katie Styles (118th), Eleanor Simmons (134th), Lucy Clapp (145th), Yvette Dore (150th), Anna Ward (172nd) and Midge Cameron (242nd) all put in decent displays.
Dulwich’s men finished 13 in their 10.6km race.
Their four scorers finished just a minute apart with Jack Ramm leading the way in 87th. Despite opting for road shoes he flew round the course holding off an assured performance from Alastair Locke in 90th place. Jonathan Whittaker (95th) pulled away from Tom South (110th) on the last rollercoaster section.
Des Crinion (148th), Andrea Ceccolini (234th), Ebe Prill (298th), Grzegorz Galezia (314th), Mark Foster (321st), Ross Rook (326th), Gower Tan (329th), Joe Brady (432nd) and Mike Mann (435th) completed an excellent showing by Dulwich Runners.
Clare Elms won a bronze in the W50 age category as she competed for England at the British and Irish Cross Country Masters in Swansea.
Ange Norris and Ros Tabor finished eighth and ninth in their age groups.
