Dulwich Runners round-up: Chuck and Ramm lead way at Wimbledon Common
Dulwich’s men team enjoyed a tough Surrey Cross Country Division One clash at Wimbledon Common.
Leading the team with typically strong runs were Edward Chuck (28:38) and Jack Ramm (28:52).
The high quality of the field meant they finished 32nd and 37th, their times would have easily placed them in the top-10 in the Division Two race.
Andy Bond, in fine form ahead of his England debut next weekend, finished second V45 in 78th (29:55).
Tim Bowen had an improved run following his illness in the previous race, coming home in 94th (30:28). Shane O’Neill is not far behind in 102nd (30:40).
The rest of the A team comprised credible efforts from Tom South (129th), Wayne Lashley (161st), Daniel Mann (164th), Martin Belzunce (166th) and Tom Shakli (167th).
Following their ninth-placed finish Dulwich will need an extremely strong performance at their “home” fixture at Beckenham in January to avoid an early return to the second tier in 2020-21.
The ladies team fielded 17 runners at Mitcham Common in their Division One race.
The A team finished 14th with Elkie Mace 19th (22:29) having an excellent race ahead of a closely spaced quartet of Marta Miaskiewicz 78th (25:05), Emma Ibell 85th, Ange Norris 86th and Anna Thomas 98th – just 27 seconds separating them.
The B team finished eighth with close packing in the midfield – Michelle Lennon 102nd, Jane Bradshaw 103rd, Yvette Dore 111th, Sara Roloff 118th and Ola Balme 131st.
