Dulwich Runners round-up: Elms produces scorching run in Westminster Mile

Clare Elms ran superbly in the Westminster Mile on Sunday.

Her blistering time (5:10) was good enough for third in the masters race and was a new W55 UK road record.

It also beat her own club records in the W45 and W50 age categories. Laura Vincent was third in the W35 category (6:04) and Ros Tabor came first in the W65 category (6:59).

Tony Tuohy was first M55 finisher in the Men’s Masters Mile (5:00). Tuohy and Barrie John Nicholls decided to do the mile and 10k double. Des Crinion was 44th in the adult race (5:01).

Dulwich had 33 members in action in Monday’s Vitality London 10,000. Ed Chuck is still regaining pace after the London Marathon but will still be pleased with an excellent 32:33. Tim Bowen (33:10) produced a PB on a twisty road course. Both Daniel Mann (34:42) and Ed Harper (34:57) recorded PBs.

There was also a PB for Thomas South (35:08). Tuohy (35:24) was second in his M55 age group – with Steve Davies (35:25), Wayne Lashley (35:27) and Alastair Locke (35:53) also running.

Other PB performances included Joe Twomey (36:33), Grant Kennedy (38:18) and Grezgorz Galezia (38:26).

Marta Miaskiewicz was the first of the ladies team (38:53) just edging out Hayley Seddon (38:56). Yvette Dore was close to her 10 km best in 41:55. Belinda Cottrill clocked a PB of 42:08. Emma Ibell paced her 43:25 run well and Charlotte Sanderson made an excellent debut for the club (44:51) –  taking over 90 seconds off her PB and finishing just behind Katie Styles (44:50). Claire Steward was second in the W65-plus category (54:05).

Dulwich Ladies were confirmed as bronze medal team winners in the London Marathon behind Clapham Chasers and London Heathside.

Lee Fedden bettered his London effort with a 2 hours 35 minute run in Edinburgh to finish eighth. Elkie Mace finished in 2:59:57 for a PB. Richard Barclay (3 hours 17) and Jo Shelton-Pereda (4 hours 11) will also be pleased with their runs given the strong headwind in the finishing miles.
