Eberechi Eze makes England tournament debut and Marc Guehi impresses again – Crystal Palace duo Euro 2024 round-up

Marc Guehi continued his starting role for Gareth Southgate’s England side as they drew 1-1 with Denmark on Thursday evening.

The Three Lions took the lead at The Waldstadion through Harry Kane in the 18th minute, but Denmark equalised in the 34th minute through Morten Hjulmand to ensure the points were shared.

Lewisham-raised Crystal Palace defender Guehi produced another strong display on the international stage. His best moment came late in the game as he recovered from an error to block a Denmark shot.

Former Spurs defender Michael Dawson told SkySports: “Think for everyone, not just myself, going into the tournament had a question mark about where we were going to be most vulnerable.

“Defence was a point where, with no out and out left-back and Marc Guehi with no Harry Maguire.

“I have always spoken about that going into a tournament, having that experience and playing at the highest level.

“Yes, he’s in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, but he’s not played in the Champions League or in European football.

“But I think he has been absolutely magnificent.

“If there is any positives, it’s down to him and John Stones.”

Greenwich-born Eberechi Eze also made his big tournament debut for England, coming on in the 69th minute to replace Bukayo Saka.
