‘Enormous amount of credit’ – Shrewsbury boss hails Crystal Palace loanee after win over Bristol Rovers

Shrewsbury Town boss Steve Cotterill says that Rob Street deserves “an enormous amount of credit” for just playing in Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Bristol Rovers after attending his grandad’s funeral earlier in the day.

The Crystal Palace loanee scored Shrewsbury’s second of the evening with a brilliantly taken goal in the 53rd minute.

Former Newport Town loanee Street has scored four goals in 37 appearances for Shrewsbury in League One this season.

“It’s brilliant for Rob Street,” Cotteril told Shrewsbury’s YouTube channel of the forward.

“He hasn’t trained this week from the game at the weekend.

“He went to his grandad’s funeral this morning. He was driven up from London today, so great credit to the kid.

“I couldn’t be happier for him tonight because that’s happened. He deserves an enormous amount of credit tonight for just playing.

“I wouldn’t have taken him off, but he rolled his ankle.

“I’m really pleased – really, really pleased.

“He works on it every day, and a lot of it is confidence. It is all well and good for him coming from Crystal Palace, but he hadn’t played at League One level.

“All of the loanees have been great, but we’re talking about Robert because of the circumstances that involved in him playing in tonight’s game.”
