Everton striker asked why Crystal Palace deadline day move collapsed

Oumar Niasse failed to provide any answers over why his deadline day move to Crystal Palace broke down after scoring in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.

The Everton striker received criticism for going down inside the penalty area in the first half to win a penalty which was dispatched by Leighton Baines.

Niasse then profited from the Eagles overplaying at the back on the stroke of half-time as he slotted past Julian Speroni.

The Senegalese striker was at Palace’s office in Soho on the final day of the summer transfer window, with a deal breaking down in the closing hours.

“I was about to come here and at the end it did not happen because they know what exactly happened,” said Niasse. “I am not going to go deep inside of what exactly happened. They know.

“I am happy to be at Everton. I am happy to play for Everton. That is it. I moved to come to palace with the medical check and everything and if that didn’t happen you have to understand…”

Niasse also failed to supply much clarity on the spot-kick he won after going down with Scott Dann stepping towards the Toffees attacker.

“People were saying that I fell down easily. I don’t know. I didn’t see the video again but the game needed that and I did it. To get into the box. I tried to dribble the guy, he was coming to the contact.

“For me, it is always a good reaction when we are 1-0 down. Someone has to push the team and if I am playing up front, I am the one who tries to do something. I am going to try to give assists or to score. Everything I can do to help my team, I am going to do it.”
