Ex-Charlton and Wimbledon midfielder lands League One transfer

Former Charlton and AFC Wimbledon midfielder Deji Oshilaja has joined newly promoted League One side Mansfield Town.

The versatile Bermondsy-born player has penned a two-year deal with the Stags, who are looking to retain their League One status this season.

Oshilaja made 43 appearances for Burton Albion last season before leaving as a free transfer.

He featured 103 times for the Dons in all competitions before leaving for Charlton in July 2019.

Oshilaja played 47 times for the Addicks and left to join Burton in 2021.

“I’m very happy,” he told the club’s website.

“Having spoken to the manager, his staff and the players that I know here, I feel like it’ll be a great place to play football next season.

“The manager has a clear plan for me in terms of what he wants me to bring to the team so that’s exciting. With the way people speak about him – I feel that’s someone I want to play for.

“I want to bring a lot of energy, a lot of organisation and a lot of quality. I’m a leader.

“The manager is building a team here where the environment and the characters of the dressing room are good characters so hopefully we can all gel and have a good season.”
