Ex-Charlton Athletic loanee released by Championship side

Ex-Charlton Athletic loanee Jay Dasilva has been released by Bristol City ahead of the 2023-24 season.

The left-back spent a season and a half on loan at The Valley, joining initially in the second half of the 2016-17 season before returning once again for the entire 2017-18 campaign.

Dasilva, who won the fans’ Player of the Season for the 2017-18 season, featured 54 times during his time at Charlton, picking up four assists in all competitions.

The former Chelsea youth product joined Bristol City in 2018 and made 144 appearances while at Ashton Gate.

Dasilva, who was linked with a move to Coventry in the winter, said of his departure from the Robins: “My time at the club has come to an end and I would like to thank everyone involved. The last four years have flown by but they will stay with me forever.

“Thank you to all my teammates, managers and staff along the way and, of course, thank you to all the fans. It’s been nothing but love from the start! I’ve loved every minute here and I will miss playing in red at Ashton Gate.

“I wish the club nothing but success for next season and the future. Thanks for everything.”
