Ex-Millwall winger Shane Ferguson signs for League One Rotherham United
Former Millwall midfielder Shane Ferguson has signed for Rotherham United on a two-year deal.
The Northern Ireland international was released by the Lions at the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
The 30-year-old made 161 appearances and scored five goals for the South London club.
Speaking to Rotherham’s club website, Ferguson said: “I’m so excited to be here. It happened quite quickly, I found out about the interest about a week ago.
“I spoke to the manager over the weekend and after I came off the call with him, I said ‘I want to be here.’ The ambition from the club is to get back to the Championship.
“This move is exactly what I needed at this stage of my career, I need to playing more regularly. I’ve been in this league before, and it’s a tough league. There is a lot of big teams in it, and this is probably the toughest I’ve seen it.”
Rotherham manager Paul Warne added: “With his ability to play in three different positions, I felt like he was the perfect addition for us.
“I’ve been chasing him for a few weeks, we had to be patient because I know he had a few other options, in the end I’m delighted that he’s decided to join us.”
