Exclusive: AFC Wimbledon loanee to leave Crystal Palace this summer

AFC Wimbledon loanee Kofi Balmer will be leaving Crystal Palace this summer, the South London Press understands.

The 23-year-old joined the Dons on loan in the January window after cutting short a loan move to League One Port Vale and has been a constant fixture in the side during his stint at Plough Lane.

Balmer has impressed during his 15 appearances for Johnnie Jackson’s side, helping keep seven clean sheets and scoring his first EFL goal in the 2-0 win at Notts County.

He joined Palace’s U21 setup from Larne in 2022 after amassing over 130 appearances in Northern Ireland, having been handed his senior debut at just 16 for Ballymena United.

Balmer was named on the bench by former Eagles boss Patrick Vieira in three Premier League outings and earned a call-up to the Northern Ireland senior squad in September 2022, featuring in the matchday squads against Kosovo and Greece.

The centre-back, who has been deployed in a back four and three for Wimbledon, will have a year left to go on his deal with Palace come the start of next season.
