Exclusive: Charlton Athletic set to offer new contract to Tom Lockyer
Charlton are set to offer Tom Lockyer a new deal within the next couple of days as they hope to persuade the Wales international to stay in SE7 despite Championship relegation.
We revealed last week that the centre-back, 25, had an option in his contract which allowed him to leave for nothing if the South London club dropped into League One.
The South London Press understands that Lockyer has been told an offer will be made to him and his representative before the end of this week.
He played every minute in the 43 matches he featured for Charlton – missing three matches due to suspension.

If he can be persuaded to stay, he will an even better player in League 1 than he was last time as he now has a wealth of experience gained whilst playing in the Championship. With JFK also signing does this mean that the new owner is keeping to his word about keeping the better players ? and is Lee Bowyer still going to be manager next season, as I am sure that any players staying, it will be, in part, to Lee staying on as manager. Plus I still think and sincerely hope, that messrs Barclay and Varney are making a supreme effort to take over the club. Just hope others, like Roland Duchelet, cooperate in the interests of the club and not themselves. !!
