Exclusive: Charlton development coach Jason Euell has applied for AFC Wimbledon job

Jason Euell has applied for the vacant manager’s job at AFC Wimbledon.

The 43-year-old, who started his career with the Dons and made almost 200 first-team appearances, is Charlton’s U23 senior professional development lead coach.

The South London Press understands that Euell applied – and was interviewed – for the Wimbledon job before Wally Downes was appointed in December 2018.

Lambeth-born Euell, who also finished his playing days with AFC Wimbledon, was also named as England U20 coach as part of the FA’s 2019-20 Elite Coach Placement Programme.

He was signed by Charlton in July 2001 for £4.75million – then a club record fee – after coming through the youth ranks as a player at the Dons.

Euell worked with the likes of Joe Gomez, Joe Aribo, Ademola Lookman and Jordan Cousins after taking on a development coaching role after hanging up his boots.

He has added to his coaching experience since last applying for the Wimbledon hotseat.
