Exclusive: Charlton offer new contracts to seven players

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton Athletic have made contract offers to seven of their squad – all of whom are set to set to see their terms expire next summer.

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer had already previously told the South London Press that he wanted to secure the long-term futures of Karlan Grant, Lewis Page, Tariqe Fosu, Joe Aribo and Dillon Phillips.

But the League One outfit have also opened negotiations with midfielder George Lapslie and striker Reeco Hackett-Fairchild.

“We’ve offered deals to all of them,” said Bowyer. “Now they will speak to their agents and come back to us.

“It is not all going to be done overnight.

“But we’ve made what we feel is a fair offer to all of them. No doubt they will probably come back and say ‘no’ and we’ll have to go again. This is the early stages of it.”

Striker Grant, 21, has scored seven goals for the Addicks since being switched to a central attacking role.

Left-back Page is sidelined with a groin injury.

Charlton assistant boss Johnnie Jackson has already touted midfielder Aribo, 22, as a future Premier League performer.

Goalkeeper Phillips has lost his starting berth to on-loan Aston Villa man Jed Steer.
