Exclusive: Former AFC Wimbledon midfielder set for National League loan

Former AFC Wimbledon midfielder Anthony Hartigan is set to join National League side Barnet on loan from Mansfield.

The 23-year-old came through Wimbledon’s academy and made 153 first-team appearances – scoring five goals and racking up 13 assists – before leaving as a free agent to join League Two side Mansfield last summer.

He also had a loan spell at Newport during his stint at Plough Lane.

Hartigan featured 25 times last season under Nigel Clough but missed most of the second half of the campaign with a long-term shoulder injury.

There was serious interest from League Two sides who wanted to take the midfielder for the season, but the Bees are set to win the race for Hartigan.

Barnet sit third in the National League table under Dean Brennan after winning their opening games against Hartlepool and South Londoners Bromley.
