Exclusive: Lyle Taylor an injury doubt for Doncaster – as Charlton suffer Lewis Page injury setback

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton Athletic have an injury doubt over Lyle Taylor for Saturday’s home game against Doncaster Rovers – with left-back Lewis Page’s expected comeback knocked back by another MONTH.

Striker Taylor is struggling with a stomach muscle issue.

Left-back Page has been out since early October with a groin problem and was due to be back in the next fortnight.

“Pagey went for a second scan and he has still got something wrong in that area,” said Addicks boss Lee Bowyer. “So now it is going to be another four weeks and if the issue has gone then it will be another two weeks to get him fit and back training.

“So we are looking at six weeks instead of two.

“It is what it is, we can’t change it.”

The absence of Taylor would be a further setback for Charlton.

“He is just really tight in and around the stomach area,” said Bowyer. “He is going for a scan now.

“He is definitely touch and go.”

Taylor is on four bookings and one more would see him serve a one-match ban.

“He has been in that situation for four or five games now,” said Bowyer. “But the most important thing is trying to get him out there Saturday. We are Saturday-Tuesday next week and then the Pompey game has been pushed back. If he could get though Saturday-Tuesday then that would be good. But we won’t know until the scan.”
