Exclusive: Millwall make loan move for Middlesbrough’s Anfernee Dijksteel

Millwall have made an approach to take Middlesbrough’s Anfernee Dijksteel on loan.

The Teessiders are believed to be ready to listen to offers for the 28-year-old, who is set to be out of contract in the summer.

Dijksteel was at Charlton Athletic at the same time as Steve Gallen, who is now director of football at the Lions.

Gallen was in the same kind of role with the Addicks when the Netherlands-born right-back was sold to Boro in 2019.

Millwall are not the only club interested in Dijksteel, who was signed by Charlton in January 2016 after impressing in a friendly while representing Nike Academy.

Dijksteel was part of the Addicks squad which won the League One play-offs in 2019.

But the South Londoners accepted a bid early into the following Championship campaign from Boro.

Millwall have seen Ryan Leonard and Danny McNamara both ruled out due to injury. The latter has suffered a serious knee injury which will require surgery.
